Hey I'm gumi(he/they) and I'm a non-binary artist of Asian and Native Hawaiian descent who lives in Hawai'i. I'm driven by a deep fixation of both physical and digital ephemera and how it serves as an informal portrait of current day society. In addition to this I enjoy utilizing relatively outdated forms of technology in ways they werenʻt initially intended for as a part of my art practice.I view machines such as the risograph duplicator or camera of the Nintendo 3ds as fellow collaborators, welcoming the unconventional nature in which they interpret images as an artistic choice made by the devicesʻ own aesthetic tastes or personality. Generally speaking I like to make vaguely nostalgic work in a variety of different mediums that are hopefully interesting to look at! Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you find something that you like!
