Dove And Finch

As a child all of my clothes were handmade and some of my earliest memories are of my mother at her sewing machine. She spent hours lovingly sewing clothes for me and my brother.

Growing up I had little interest in learning her craft but as a young adult I began to admire and appreciate the love and work that had gone into the clothing she had made. When I was pregnant with my first child I decided to try my hand at making myself some maternity dresses and a crib set for my child. I struggled at first and then began to enjoy the challenge finding that the process was interesting and rewarding. When at the sewing machine I was totally focused and all other concerns and worries vanished. It became my happy place!

This new found skill and joy continued through the births and raising of my three children. They too grew up wearing a lot of handmade clothes. Once they started school I tried my hand at handmade home decor and found that to be my passion. When the last one left for college a friend told me about a new handmade seller’s platform called Etsy and so I decided to open a shop to see if I could share and sell my handmade home decor. I continue to enjoy making and sharing my items on Etsy. I also expanded my shop to include handmade wine stoppers and accessories which are a lot of fun to create.

I continue to create new items and seek new challenges to further my skills. My joy comes from creating and sharing that joy with others!
